Vote "YES" on Prop 8!

California has been a liberal state for a long time. But 8 years ago we voted for marriage to be between a Man and a Woman. This year a judge decided that he knew better than 60% of Californian's and made it legal for gays to marry!!! So now it is back on the ballot. I'd like to think of it as a way of telling judges if the majority wants it, it doesn't matter if it is on their agenda! I don't like to talk politics, but this topic seems to be forcing me to. It scares me what could happen to our society if this prop does not pass. Lots of people have said to me how is it going to affect me? Well it is legal for gays to marry in Massachusetts and it is staggering! They are teaching in schools that it is perfectly normal for gays to marry, holding it with the same regard as traditional marriage. Adoption agencies have had to close and churches have lost their tax exempt status. Voting yes on prop 8 does not change any rights for the gay community, it just defines marriage as between a MAN and a WOMAN. I have had gay friends, and been close to gay people, but that does not change my feelings. I hope that Californian's will vote yes on Prop 8 and tell the world that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Toby Becomes a Webelo

Since Toby was finished with his bear and already earned an arrow point. they bridged him a month (actually 2 weeks) early, since one other boy was bridging too. Here he is as his last moment as a Bear.

Here he is on the bridge.

this is his Webelo leader, Sister Farmer. He is happy to advance and get new goals. He likes the new scarf and the shoulder straps. I can't believe he only has one more year till he goes to Boy Scouts!!! It's making me feel old! I will soon be on the Eagle trail!

Congratulations, Toby!
